La TAVOLA  

 

La "Tavola del Tau" stands between the Spanish towns of L’Ametlla de Mar, and El Perello in Cataluña.

                          

 One of the beauties of the unique Tavola del Tau is the surrounding nature, and the combined harmony of earth and sky, clean crisp air, and the summer’s fiery sun. Another one balances the summer´s sun with a clever and distinguished house design assuring the interior cool through the hottest of months, and a roof-covered opened-wall terrace at one end of the house for outdoor sitting and eating experiences, with the roof serving to protect from an occasional rainfall.

Tavola de Tau is a classic Spanish Country Home built in 1887 and updated to be off-grid-efficient with solar panels (and full back up system), and water recovered from rain and stored in the huge cistern below.

The spacious (250m2) house sits high up the gently rising hill, with a lovely, full-faced view out to the Mediterranean Sea, while the backside view from the 2nd storey balcony looks out to the famous, unique shape of mountains bordering te Burga valley.

Although there are some houses scattered about, here and there, the overall quietude is awe-inspiring, a perfect counterpoint to the dramatic expanse of sky with its regularly dazzling colorful sunsets.

Nature is everywhere, olive trees and almond trees dot the landscape in balance with the more refined, front-of-the-house garden of interesting plants, flowers and cacti.

The interior of Tavola de Tau, with its unique floor tiles, consists of 4 bedrooms (2 doubles, 4 singles), 2 bathrooms with showers, although the master bathroom(en suite) has a bathtub as well.

 The kitchen/diningroom is appointed with its large, original and highly efficient fireplace. 

Although outdoors is where most people would choose to spend their time here, the 2nd floor living room is spacious (80mtrs sq??), with amazing acoustics, 2 built-in couches and plenty of comfortable seating, and access to the open-air balcony/terrace to enjoy anytime gatherings, and of course, views to the sea.

Tavola de Tau sits a 15 min drive from the beaches and small town L’Ametlla de Marand 4km from El Perello. Trains to Barcelona take 2hrs and run regularly. Valencia is 2.5hrs by train with one train change.

L’ametlla de Mar is an active fishing port, and its many restaurants are well known for their freshest-of-fish dishes. Family activities include an outdoor summer cinema, swimming, hiking, biking, and exploring the unique towns of 
the interior.

- 4 bedrooms: 2 double bed rooms(1 bathroom suite) and 2 bedrooms with 2x 1p bed each
-3 bathrooms( 1 with bathtub, 1 with shower and the 3rd one with just a toilet and sink
- a swimming pool(aprx 3m wide x1m high)
-washing machine
-hairdryer
-bedlinen and towels are all natural cotton 
-fully equipped open kitchen
-authentic efficient fire place 
-gas stoves in each room
-large living room with terrace upstairs 
-great garden with flowering plants all year round

as the house is completely powered by solar energy visitors are expected to be conscious with the use of electricity and water:
the washing machine and other powerful electrical equipment should be used during the hours the sun is out

the house will be prepared for your stay, towels are available but please bring beachtowels 

there is no wifi but a good telephone connection for roaming

Minimum stay: 2 nights
Minimum stay July and August: 5 days
children under 6 pay half price

deposit 300€ to be returned within 3 days after your leave
cleaning fee: 50€
Pets allowed(please consult beforehand)
Children are welcome but parents need to be vigilant: the house has various different levels and steps, inside and outside
